More on June 4th...
Enjoyed our quiet ‘free day’ today with nothing major on the agenda. We went out for our walk and checked out some shops…Mataeus had his 57 Yuan ice cream (about $8 Canadian), but was well worth it as he enjoyed it immensely. Went to the grocery store and were happy that we didn't see any chicken feet!! lol Although, truth be told, we did intentionally avoid the ‘deli’ section. J Everything is much more ‘westernized’ here in Beijing…more English writing on things etc…definitely catering to the tourists much more. While Mom, Mataeus and Thea napped, Glen and I went for a bit of a walk outside. The weather is so much nicer here…we can actually see some blue sky and it has warmed up quite a bit! And yes…I got to enjoy my Starbucks…ahhhh, just like home!
We had an exciting event this evening…Mataeus lost his very first tooth!!! So fun to have this happen in China…he was so happy, and is very anxious to see if the tooth fairy will leave him Yuan or Canadian money. The picture of him and my mom is when Mataeus was proudly showing his grandma his tooth. :)
We cannot believe how much our baby girl has changed in the past week. Her referral papers lied to us!! haha Little miss Thea is definitely NOT a quiet, shy, passive little girl (as we originally thought based on her papers and how she was when we first met her)…in fact, she is now quite the opposite. She is a very active, outgoing, loud, and happy little chatterbox girl…and did I mention busy??…and I mean busy! lol Nathaniel is about to meet his match! Oh the trouble those two are going to get into together! I can just see all of our friends and family smiling/laughing right now…and you thought I had my hands full with Nathaniel! Lol If you don’t see me once I get back, it’s because I’m too afraid to leave the house with both of them…please come see us instead! J All kidding aside…Thea is a sweet little girl, definitely busy…but just like Nathaniel, a happy busy which is just fine with me…gotta keep life interesting right?! There is no doubt in my mind that she is going to go straight from crawling to running once she meets her big bro Nathaniel and wants to keep up. Now we just have to get through the 12 hour flight home with her and all will be good.
We are all looking forward to our tour of the Great Wall tomorrow…it will be an early start, and a long day…but will be well worth it I’m sure.

So so happy that Thea is adjusting so well. Congrats to Mataeus on losing his first tooth. Cant wait to hear what the tooth fairy brings. We hope you have a wonderful day at the great wall and don't have to eat/see any more chicken feet lol. Praying Thea feels better and that there are no hold ups with the passport. Sending you lots of love and hugs
